Notice of End-of-Sale for Device-Based Licenses from the Liminal Web Store

There are currently two methods of purchasing ZoomISO and ZoomOSC:

  • Liminal Web Store, which sells device-based license keys on a monthly subscription via FastSpring, our Merchant of Record

  • Zoom Events Platform, which activates the product when signed in with a Zoom account that is a Hub Host on the Zoom Events Platform

We are announcing the upcoming End-of-Sale for licenses from the Liminal Web Store and will be transitioning to exclusively licensing via the Zoom Events Platform for ZoomISO and ZoomOSC in 2026.

The ability to license Liminal Apps via Zoom accounts that are Hub Hosts in the Zoom Events Platform was introduced in 2024 and has been well-received. Zoom Events Platform is a more cost-effective license pathway, especially for customers running multiple apps across devices, and has enterprise-grade procurement options which are not available in the Liminal Web Store. This change will simplify purchasing for our customers and help complete the migration of Liminal infrastructure to Zoom.

As a reminder, the Liminal Apps are activated when you sign in using a Zoom account that is an active Hub Host or Hub Owner in the Zoom Events platform. Hubs can be created using Zoom Events or Zoom Sessions licenses, including Subscription and Pay-Per-Attendee (PPA). After purchasing a license, log into events.zoom.us to create a Hub and add any accounts from your Zoom organization that you wish to have access to the Liminal Apps. Then, when you sign into the apps, they will activate to the Pro version.

Here are some key details of this transition:

  • We expect to introduce new versions of the Liminal Apps later this year (2025) that do not support Liminal Web Store licenses.

  • We expect to stop selling new device-based license subscriptions from the Liminal Web Store this Fall (2025).

  • On January 1st, 2026, we plan to cancel all FastSpring subscription renewals.

  • On Feb 1st, 2026, we plan to delete all Liminal Web Store licenses and LicenseSpring portals.

  • To avoid disruption in your product activations, you must transition to Hub Host licensing from the Zoom Events Platform for the Liminal Apps before these expiration dates.

  • Timelines are subject to change.

Please contact our team at info@liminalet.com if you need any help making this transition.

FAQ

Q: Is this a price increase?

A: This is likely to be a cost reduction, not an increase, for Liminal App customers, due to the availability of licenses such as Zoom Sessions Pay-Per-Attendee 50, which currently sells at a significantly lower price compared to a single Liminal Web Store Device-Based License, especially considering that the PPA capacity is not reduced when running meetings outside of the Zoom Events platform.

Q: How many devices can I use when I license via the Zoom Events Platform?

A: Unlike a Liminal Web Store license, the number of devices you can simultaneously log into is not limited when using a license via the Zoom Events Platform. Please note that some Zoom accounts may have admin restrictions on the number of concurrent device sign-ins, so if you experience any issues with concurrent log ins, check your account settings.

Q: What is a Hub on Zoom Events?

A: The Zoom Events Platform has the concept of a Hub where users of an account can utilize the features of Zoom Events without requiring their account to be the one to actually "own" the Zoom Events license itself. The Hub is a great way to share functionality, including access to the Liminal Apps, to multiple users in your Zoom account.

Q: Does Zoom Sessions work for activating Liminal Apps?

A: Yes, Zoom Sessions licenses are supported for this activation method.

Q: Are the Liminal Apps included in Pay-Per-Attendee (PPA) licenses?

A: Yes, PPA licenses have the ability to create Hubs, and therefore can be used with the Liminal Apps.

Q: Are they restricted by the number of users on the PPA license?

A: No, if your meeting or webinar is not scheduled / ticketed within the Zoom Events Platform, then participants will not impact your license capacity. For example, if you have a meeting that can hold 1000 participants scheduled on your account, but add a Sessions PPA 50 license, if you join a "normal" meeting on your account scheduled outside of Zoom Events, the capacity is 1000, not 50, and the participants who attend will not "draw down" your PPA capacity within Zoom Events.

Q: Can I only join Zoom Events via this new activation method?

A: No, once activated, you can join any meeting or webinar that your user account is authorized for, including anything scheduled outside of Zoom Events or even on other accounts.
