Release 2.2.0

ZoomISO v2 build 2.2.0 introduces AV1 decoding, support for AJA devices & SMPTE 2110, stereo audio, share audio, and many fixes / enhancements

  • Added support for AV1 Zoom decoding in supported meetings

  • Added Beta support for AJA NTV2 output devices including Io X3 and Kona 5

  • Added Beta support for SMPTE 2110 outputs using Blackmagic DeckLink IP devices

  • Added support for Stereo Audio

    • NDI, SDI, Display, and SRT outputs will now use two channels of embedded audio

    • Advanced Audio now has a Pan selection column for Left, Right, or Mono

    • Participants who send Mono audio will have their audio repeated on both stereo channels. As a result, it is not necessary to be aware of the sender’s capabilities to ensure that audio will be present on both the left and right audio output channels in a stereo ZoomISO configuration

    • Participants who send Stereo into the meeting and are assigned to a channel in Advanced Audio with Pan set to Mono will be mixed down to Mono by ZoomISO

    • When mixing a stereo signal into mono (regardless of if the remote Zoom participant is actually sending true stereo), consider using the Gain Reduction dropdown to set the Pan Law for that channel

  • Added support for Share audio

    • If a participant shares sound during their sharing session, this audio can be embedded in an NDI, SDI, Display, or SRT output using the ISO audio embedding option when using the Active Share output type

    • Active Share is also added as a Mode in Advanced Audio

    • Shared audio is only supported for Active Share output types, not Participant Share, because the audio is associated with the shared state of the call, not the sender. ISO Audio for Participant Share outputs is no longer on the dropdown menu as a result.

    • Share Audio can also be Stereo when the sender uses high fidelity audio sharing (stereo) when starting their sharing session in Zoom

  • Added None as a default option for Output Selection

    • If you don’t want anyone assigned to an output, you can simply set it to None instead of disabling the output

  • Gain Reduction in Advanced Audio has been recalibrated to decibels

    • New options for -24 and -48 have been added

  • Added an Always Request option to the petition interface for recording and streaming permission

    • If selected, a petition will always be sent to the host when attempting to enable the output engine without the necessary permissions for the selected Capture Mode

  • Added notice to UI when a petition for streaming or recording permission is in-progress

  • Added OSC commands for requesting capture permission

    • /zoom/requestCapturePermission will send the request

    • /zoomosc/capturePermissionGranted will be sent when permission is granted

  • Hosts and co-hosts are now implicitly included in the Panelists filter in Participant Management for convenience

  • ZoomISO will now automatically filter out Webinar attendees who do not have speaking permission from the Selection drop down in the Outputs tab

  • Improved login behavior

    • ZoomISO will now attempt to automatically log back in when relaunched if it was logged in when last quit

    • ZoomISO will now refresh its login token until the refresh cycle expires

    • ZoomISO will now attempt to automatically log out if its login tokens have expired

  • ZoomISO will now warn users not to use Video Loss images of higher resolutions than 1920x1080

  • When a meeting ends, users will now be automatically cleared from the Selection column of the Outputs tab

  • Fixed issue where starting a Webinar with Backstage enabled as the host directly from within ZoomISO prevented the app from starting the Output Engine

  • Fixed issue where the selection parameter of the OSC output for ZoomISO output routing was empty

    • The OSC output will provide the participant ZoomID if the Output Mode is Participant

    • If the Output Mode is an option other than participant, an index of the selection will be provided

    • If the Output Mode is an option that has no selection parameter, the output value will be zero

  • Fixed issue where joining via a link from the logged in view could fail

  • Fixed issue where output engine would go to Standby when a meeting ended even if it was previously set to Disabled

  • Fixed issue where starting a Cloud Recording while ZoomISO was using Live Stream Capture Mode caused the Output Engine to revert to Standby without the ability to re-enable outside of changing Capture Modes

  • Fixed issue with selection of participants not applying correctly in Advanced Audio

  • Fixed issue where users who renamed in Zoom did not always rename everywhere within the ZoomISO interface

  • Fixed issue where selecting a participant in the Outputs tab could change other entries in the table

  • Fixed certain UI parameters not saving properly between app launches

  • Fixed issues with Default Gain in Advanced Audio

  • Fixed issue where Active Speaker outputs could freeze

  • Fixed crash when handling high frequency audio OSC polling requests

  • All ZoomOSC 4.4.0 macOS features are also included in this ZoomISO release

    • Please reference the ZoomOSC Changelog for more details on these features

  • Updated Zoom Meeting SDK to 5.17.10

Release 2.1.2

ZoomISO v2 build 2.1.2 is the general release of the 2.1 feature set following a series of public beta builds this summer. 2.1 adds new technologies including SRT, a new join flow including Zoom Events support, and more audio capabilities.

  • All ZoomOSC 4.3.0 macOS features, including the new Join Flow for PMI, Zoom Events, etc., are included in this ZoomISO release

    • Please reference the ZoomOSC Changelog for more details on these features

  • Added Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) as new Output Type in ZoomISO Pro

    • There is a new SRT settings dialogue for creating SRT “channels” where you can specify the IP, Port, Mode (Caller / Listener / Rendezvous), Latency, and choice of using Stream IDs.

    • If using a Stream ID, the ID will be the Output Name.

    • Channels created in SRT Settings are selectable as an Output Type.

    • Listener Mode SRT Channels will prompt to accept incoming connections.

    • SRT Outputs carry h.264 video with AAC audio in MPEG2-TS.

  • Added a sample rate selector for NDI Embedded Audio

    • Zoom’s audio is usually 32k Hz, however some decoders require 48k as the sample rate, so ZoomISO can now handle this conversion before transmission.

  • Added New Capture Mode option with addition of Live Stream permissions

    • If Capture Mode is set to Recording, ZoomISO will use the local recording privilege and consent prompt to start the Output Engine.

    • Setting to Live Stream will instead utilize the Live Stream privilege and prompt, which may be more accurate or easier to obtain in certain workflows.

    • Live Stream Capture Mode is now the default flow.

  • Added Petition Host for Capture Mode permissions

    • If you enable the Output Engine without access permissions, you will be prompted to allow ZoomISO to ask the host to grant the permission required by your Capture Mode

    • The resulting “petition” will be a pop-up on the host’s client requesting the ZoomISO client be given the necessary permission for the session. The host can accept or decline. If the host accepts before the petition times out, ZoomISO will start its Output Engine.

  • Blackmagic Desktop Video outputs can now have audio embedded from the Outputs tab

    • Each port of the device can carry independent audio

    • When embedding audio via this method, audio appears on channels 1 and 2 of each port

  • Added a new toggle for displaying the Output Name on Video Loss Mode

    • Testcard or Image modes will have the Output Name displayed as centered white text as an overlay if this setting is enabled.

  • Added new audio mixes in Advanced Audio

    • “Mix of all outputs” will contain the audio of all participants assigned to a video output

    • “Mix of all unassigned participants” will contain the audio of all participants who are NOT assigned to a video output

    • These new mixes are particularly helpful for monitoring purposes

  • Cloud Recording will no longer prevent the ZoomISO Output Engine from starting when Capture Mode is set to Recording

  • It is now possible to cancel a sign-in attempt

  • Added Embedded Audio for Display-Type Outputs

    • If the Display device has a corresponding audio device of the same name, ZoomISO will match them and allow the routing of audio from within the Outputs tab

    • For any other situation, including Pluggable Display-Link adapters, continue to use Advanced Audio to select the appropriate audio device and then populate the channels using Output Mode so audio follows video

    • This feature is now available for ZoomISO Lite as well as ZoomISO Pro

  • Active Speaker Output Mode can now mix-minus the self-video

    • This output mode now references the client Video setting “See myself as the active speaker while speaking” and if it is disabled, ZoomISO will not output the self-video feed on Active Speaker outputs. If the setting is enabled, ZoomISO will include the self-video.

  • Incoming AV status is now visible as a new column in Participant Management

  • Improved Advanced Audio participant / channel handoff and buffer management

  • Fixed issue where loading settings into ZoomISO when using an exported save file did not properly import all setting choices

  • Updated Zoom Meeting SDK to version 5.15.5

Release 2.0.7

ZoomISO v2 build 2.0.7 contains a handful of stability and workflow improvements and can run in parallel to the upcoming v2.1 beta release.

  • The “All” setting for both Embedded Audio as well as Advanced Audio channels is now a mix-minus, removing the local client’s mic input from the output

    • Previously, audio sent via these outputs would contain audio being sent into the meeting via the mic input in the ZoomISO client window

    • Now, the “All” output behaves like the Speaker output of a Zoom client, which removes “self audio” from the mix

  • Added a “Force Gallery View” setting in the OSC Settings area

    • When sending a spotlight command to ZoomISO, if this setting is enabled, the client view will automatically return to Gallery View to preserve the ability to track changes in the view via OSC

    • This change will be released for ZoomOSC in the future as well

  • Resolved an issue where the Output Engine would revert itself to Standby if ZoomISO was promoted from co-host to host

    • Output streams may still reinitialize during promotion, but there will be no intervention required by the user

  • Added a change to the ZoomISO save file format in preparation for ZoomISO v2.1 Beta

    • This will allow users to move between v2.0.7 and v2.1 Beta without requiring a Clear Cache operation every time

  • Fixed a crash when calling /listWindows when not in a meeting

    • This change will be released for ZoomOSC in the future as well

  • Fixed a crash caused by requesting the status of an Advanced Audio channel’s gain setting via OSC at the same moment as changing it via the UI

  • Fixed a crash caused by moving the Output Engine to Standby mode with an Active Screenshare output configured and active

  • Updated Zoom Meeting SDK to version 5.14.6

Release 2.0.6

ZoomISO v2 build 2.0.6 resolves issues with screen sharing, adds a new login flow, and introduces a new SDK version with several additional improvements

  • Reliability issues with screenshare output modes have been resolved

  • If you want to output a particular individual’s shared content, use Screen Share output mode

  • If you just want to get the current shared content, without binding it to a participant, use Active Screenshare.

    • There are two selection options, Share 1 and Share 2 with this mode. If two people are sharing simultaneously, and the first person stops sharing, Share 2’s content moves to Share 1, and Share 2 is cleared.

    • If multiple shares are not enabled, and one share “cuts off” the next, it will always end up on Share 1

  • We do not advise utilizing more than two shared content outputs of any type combination at once, since Zoom Clients can receive a maximum of two shares simultaneously

  • ZoomISO now uses the default browser for login

    • This allows an easier flow for remaining logged in between app launches, remembering login, and using password managers to complete the Zoom login

    • The previous embedded login window flow has been moved to the top menu for workflows that require it

  • New setting “Use Transparent Pillarboxing”

    • When mapping non 16:9 content to an output, this setting determines if the pillarboxed exterior area is black or transparent (alpha).

  • Added new OSC commands and outputs for configuring ZoomISO

    • See updated user manual for details and syntax

  • Changed ZoomISO NDI output timing data so it is compatible with the vMix Multi-Recorder when using h264 encoding

  • Embedded ZoomOSC version upgraded to ZoomOSC 4.2.0

  • On macOS, a button was added for enabling breakout room OSC commands.

    • Checking this box will disable the breakout interface in the Zoom UI.

    • We will remove this trade-off in a future release

  • Upgraded Zoom Meeting SDK to version 5.14.0

Release 2.0.5

ZoomISO v2 build 2.0.5 introduces High Bandwidth Mode, alongside a new SDK version with a handful of improvements.

  • High Bandwidth Mode (HBM) is now available for ZoomISO Pro users

    • HBM allows a 100mbps link between the Zoom Cloud and ZoomISO Pro. An average 1080p Zoom participant video feed is between 4-6mbps. As a result, customers should be able to export up to 16 participants at 1080p on capable hardware.

    • To use HBM in a Breakout Room, Zoom Support must enable the Breakout 100 Account Setting for for the host’s account.

  • ZoomISO 2.0.5 is based on Zoom Client version 5.12.2

  • Fixed issue where participant meeting interactions caused a disruption in frame delivery to outputs

  • Added new OSC commands

    • See documentation for details

  • Fixed issue where mobile video was incorrectly scaled and cropped

  • Added Gallery Position as a Mode for identifying a participant in the Outputs Tab

  • Status column in Outputs Tab has been changed for increased insight

    • The incoming resolution and frame rate are now accompanied by a cycle time, represented in milliseconds. The cycle time represents the number of “new” frames of participant data that are added to the output. Remember that the target frame rate is achieved by dropping or repeating frames as needed from the dynamic Zoom input to achieve the desired output. Incoming FPS and cycle time will help you identify the quality of participant video and the performance of ZoomISO.

  • Resolves various bugs related to core media engine stability.

Release 2.0.4

ZoomISO v2 build 2.0.4 resolves a handful of integration issues and improves export capabilities for screen share and mobile video.

  • Adds new Active ScreenShare Output Mode that allows for the routing of shared content to outputs without identifying the participant who will initiate the share

  • Contributors joining via mobile devices (potentially with non-16:9 video aspect ratios) will now properly scale and rotate within ZoomISO’s outputs

    • All ZoomISO outputs will remain 16:9, so if the participant sends a different aspect ratio, their video will be composited onto a 16:9 alpha layer (which will appear as black on export protocols that do not support embedded alpha channels)

  • Fixed issue where ZoomISO Lite did not send a complete participant snapshot packet via OSC

    • This will solve issues for customers using ZoomISO Lite who had missing participants on their BitFocus Companion StreamDeck pages in the new module

  • Fixed issue where various UI elements would reset themselves under certain circumstances

  • Unchecking the Enabled tick box in the Outputs View now unsubscribes ZoomISO from the incoming participant video and audio feed

    • Previously, only the output would be impacted by this tick box. After discussions with customers, we decided to unsubscribe from both the input and the output using this tick box. This means that disabled outputs will not contribute to your incoming bandwidth, but it may take a brief moment for the output to be reconstructed when the output is re-enabled.

  • When a participant stops sharing, the render object for the shared content is now fully disposed, improving the turnover between shares from multiple participants in sequence.

  • Resolves various bugs related to core media engine stability.

Release 2.0.3

ZoomISO v2 build 2.0.3 marks the end of Open Beta. This update contains a number of fixes to all major app components.

  • Fixes issue where ZoomISO Lite did not always embed audio in NDI outputs

  • ZoomISO Client can now initiate ScreenShares

  • ZoomISO can now automatically detect when a ScreenShares starts and will begin transmitting video when the selected participant begins their share

    • Previously, ZoomISO would stay in Video Loss Mode unless the ScreenShare output was created after the selected participant began sharing

  • Active Speaker output type no longer switches to Video Loss Mode during the transition between speakers

    • We still recommend using “All” as the audio type if you are embedding this into an NDI output set to Active Speaker to avoid audible disruption during the speaker rollover

  • OSC Subscribe To level no longer impacts participant availability in the ZoomISO UI

  • Added additional checks to keep UI selections in-sync with the media engine

  • The OSC Pong reply now indicates the license activation level in the app identification string

  • Added additional crash protection surrounding Advanced Audio

  • Changed App Entitlements structure

    • Package is now named “ZoomISO - v2.app”

Release 2.0.2 Beta

ZoomISO v2 build 2.0.2 resolves several bugs identified during open beta testing and improves stability surrounding video loss and screen sharing

  • The macOS top menu bar no longer appears on top of ZoomISO’s Fullscreen Display Outputs

  • Channel mapping using the Outputs Mode in Advanced Audio will now include the proper output mapping in the auto save

  • Video Loss Mode will now apply automatically when a user finishes sharing their screen

  • Resolved issues with Image Video Loss Mode not properly supporting PNG and JPEG file formats

    • Images should now scale automatically to fill the 16:9 frame

  • Fixed system lockup when assigning a screen share output when the user was not actively sharing

    • ZoomISO still may not immediately bind to the shared video of participants when the output is created before the user starts sharing. This known issue remains on our list of items to resolve.

  • Freeze Video Loss Mode now automatically “un-freezes” when participant video is restored

  • Fixed bundled ZoomOSC Essentials/Pro command activation not respecting ZoomISO Pro/Lite/Trial activation level

  • Fixed crash when running the Clear Cache operation in the File Menu

  • Fixed crash when targeting a user via Target ID when they are not in the meeting

  • Resolved issue where login token was expiring too soon

    • This resolves the issue where users would log in, and then fail to join a meeting that requires registration several minutes later

  • The OSC /zoom/joinMeeting command now respects the log-in status of ZoomISO

    • For those having trouble joining meetings via this command due to registration issues, so long as the ZoomISO client is logged in, this OSC command will now interact with the login status to execute the proper join flow

Release 2.0.1 Beta

ZoomISO v2 build 2.0.1 adds several stability updates and performance optimizations

  • Improved the novel frame rate output for BlackMagic Desktop Video devices

    • SDI outputs from devices like the BlackMagic Decklink should now appear smoother as this fix resolves micro-stuttering noticed by some users under certain configurations

  • Upgrade to NDI SDK 5.5

    • Previous versions of the NDI library were found to have compatibility issues with the latest NDI tools

    • Vizrt Group has also recently updated NDI tools to fix bugs found in their platform, and we recommend that customers using NDI 5.5 upgrade to the latest version of NDI Tools

  • Fixed app hangup when using Freeze Video Loss Mode when output data is not available

  • Updated debugging messages in Verbose Log Mode

    • Only use Verbose Log Mode if working with a Liminal Support team member, as this mode will degrade app performance

  • Output engine help text and toggle states better reflect the conditions under which participant data can actually be captured

    • For example, the output engine will remain Paused when Cloud Recording is enabled, as you cannot enable local recording when this feature is active.

  • Stability / bug fixes surrounding media engine, significantly improving app stability in more diverse situations

    • Participants View can now be filtered

    • Output status is made available per-output to see FPS and resolution

  • App configuration can be saved, loaded, and merged

  • To export participant data, ZoomISO must have local recording permission, or a role of (co)host.

    • By default, the Output Engine will be set to Paused, which sets all outputs to video loss mode

    • When ZoomISO has sufficient permission, the Output Engine can be Enabled, at which point, the meeting will surface a Recording notification to all participants, and the outputs will begin to export participant AV data

  • Trial Mode no longer watermarks outputs. Instead, ZoomISO will cut to a “No License” card for two seconds every sixty seconds. During this time, audio outputs will be muted.

  • ZoomISO v2 is supported on Apple Silicon Macs using macOS Monterey. Intel-based Macs or Macs running older versions of macOS are not officially supported, and while the app may run on these systems, the experience may not be optimal.

ZoomISO Pro

  • All features of ZoomISO Lite and ZoomOSC v4.1 Pro

  • High Bandwidth Mode, which allows for more than four participant outputs to be created, depending on the availability of hardware and network resources.

    • High Bandwidth Mode, particularly when enabling more than 6 1080p 30FPS outputs, requires updates to Zoom’s global infrastructure that are currently in progress, and may require until mid October to complete worldwide rollout. Any ZoomISO client updates required to fully enable this feature, if not already available, will be provided free of charge to ZoomISO Pro users.

    • At this time, ZoomISO is the only product on the Zoom Platform that can leverage “High Bandwidth Mode,” so the infrastructure updates referenced above will not yet impact the decoders present in Zoom Rooms or Zoom integrations developed by third party companies.

  • Native support for BlackMagic Desktop Video Devices such as the DeckLink Duo 2 and Quad 2.

    • ZoomISO Pro will discover these devices and allow them to be selected as outputs directly from within the app

    • It is important to install and configure the BlackMagic Desktop Video driver and preferences pane (particularly for I/O cards that default to using paired I/O modules on a per-host basis) before attempting to assign participants to outputs in ZoomISO Pro.

  • Advanced Audio

    • ZoomISO Pro adds a tab for assigning audio to any multichannel audio device on the Mac, including Loopback and Dante Virtual Soundcard

    • Participants can be routed to channels of these devices by name, or by following whoever is assigned to a video output. The meeting’s mixed audio can also be assigned

    • Audio can be attenuated by up to -12 db within ZoomISO

    • New ../audioISO user action is added for managing this routing from external devices like a StreamDeck with the new BitFocus Companion Module.

    • Audio Meters display activity on a per-channel basis
